Effective July 8, 2019, you will log onto SBS’ website to view your CE transcript and South Carolina license information.  As a reminder to resident producers, fingerprinting is not required at every renewal. If a resident producer was fingerprinted at initial licensure or for their last compliance period, fingerprinting is not required a second time as long as the license remains active.

Title 38, Chapter 43 of the South Carolina Code of Laws defines the regulations and requirements for an insurance producer.

The license fee is $25. It is not pro-rated and is non-refundable and non-transferable. If license status cannot be verified on the State Producer Licensing Database (SPLD), certification from the applicant's home state will be required. Cancel the SC resident license.  Apply and become licensed in the new home state.  Once approved, apply online at NIPR for a non-resident license in SC.   Pre-need producers are only required to pass the life exam and need to submit:

  •    A copy of your South Carolina funeral director's license
  •    Letter of employment from a South Carolina licensed funeral home.

Change of Address Requirements

South Carolina law requires all licensees to notify the Department of any change in address within 30 days (business, email, mailing, and residential street addresses).
