Who owns the most expensive car in the world Rolls-Royce

Dubbed the “Boat Tail”, Rolls-Royce has pulled out all the stops for an unknown client to create their dream car. There are clues and rumours as to who this might be, which we’ll get into later, but let’s take a look at this insane $28 million Rolls-Royce a little first.

Only three of these beauties have been made and appear to be based upon the Rolls-Royce Dawn. It’s 19 feet of pure four seat luxury, with a fold out table and umbrella out the back. With a button press, its roof can also be entirely removed. The large rear section flips and turns to reveal a double refrigerator specifically designed to house the clients’ favourite vintages of Armand de Brignac champagne. Bottles can be rapidly cooled to precisely six degrees – the optimum serving temperature of the preferred vintage. This is our first clue as to who commissioned this vehicle.

“Boat Tail is our most ambitious project yet. Coachbuild, in collaboration with its clients, has ignored all preconceived notions of possibility and set a new standard. This is Bespoke at its purest.” says Torsten Muller-Otvos, CEO of Rolls-Royce.

According to Rolls-Royce, “Boat Tail’s nautical form evokes graceful J-class yachts and a 1932 Rolls-Royce Boat Tail the owners lovingly restored as part of their expansive collection.”

There’s another clue right there.

“The clients’ favourite hue: an oceanic blue infused with shimmering crystals. The complex colour is subtle in shadow and vibrant in light. Its smooth edges were achieved by delicately running a finger over the definitive body line before the paint set.”

Two-sided timepieces, one for the lady and one for the gentleman, can be worn or placed within the fascia as car clocks. The timepieces required Rolls-Royce and Bovet 1822 to work in partnership for over three years.

Taking all this information into account, The Daily Mail has narrowed down the likely culprits to be Beyonce and Jay-Z. They’re known for being fans of blue, and Armand de Brignac champagne is Jay-Z’s favourite. He even has a stake in the company, so buying a fridge that specifically houses it isn’t such a crazy idea.

Rolls Royce Boat Tail will truly be one-of-a-kind vehicle

Key Highlights

  • The identity of the three high-net-worth buyers of the cars are yet to be revealed but the internet is rife with speculation.
  • The cars will be unique as they will be bespoke to the owners specifications from the treatment of the leather to the colour of the the thread used to stitch the interior fabrics.
  • Swiss timepieces by Bovet 1822 for the interior decor double as wrist watches to be worn as and when needed when not driving the car too.

Rolls Royce, the name itself exudes opulence, has made a new feat with their latest creation, with only three units made for super exclusive and high net worth individuals, which can be called the world’s most expensive production car at a price tag of Rs 202 crore or $28 million per unit.

The Rolls Royce Boat Tail could very well also be called the most exclusive car in the world right now. The identity of the three car owners has been kept under wraps but there’s speculation online that one of the buyers might be Beyonce and Jay Z.

In true old-world style, the mechanics and the working parts of the car will be provided by Rolls Royce, but the aesthetics will be individually crafted as per the requirements of the owners, the way old Rolls Royce’s were made.

Coach building has been a lost form of art and was last seen in the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante which is based on an Alfa Romeo 8C. Coach built cars, like the Rolls Royce Boat Tail are works of art because they are unique and unlike any other car ever made before, even by the same coach building company.

Along with the works of art on the outside, these terrestrial masterpieces will also have bespoke timepieces inside provided by Swiss timekeeper Bovet 1822. The timepieces can used as a part of the cars décor or can be removed to be worn as wristwatches as well. The glove box of each vehicle will hold a Montblanc in exquisite leather and an aluminium case to sign those multibillion dollar deals while on the move.

The heart of this gentle beast is powered by a 6.757 litre V12 twin-turbo engine that it shares with other Roll Royce offerings like the Cullinan, Phantom and the Ghost, so you know that it will pass with fly colours in the popular coin test to show how smooth the engine runs, without letting a penny on its side fall down with the engine turned on and even revved to make the test that much more difficult to pass.

Rolls-Royce had one of the most memorable showings at last year's postponed Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, where it premiered its first Boat Tail, a bespoke creation that handily tops the list of world's most expensive new cars at a reported $28 million. How do you follow up such a monumental appearance at the next Concorso? By debuting another Boat Tail, the second in a series limited to just three cars. This model arrives as a whisky-tinged cigar, complete with walnut decks, rose gold accents and a built-in picnic area.

The latest creation of Rolls' Coachbuild program becomes one of only three Boat Tails that Rolls-Royce plans to ever make. And when you're selling them for close to $30 million apiece, you can afford to keep production numbers far removed from serial. With visions of early 20th century racing yachts in mind, Rolls-Royce hand-builds the bespoke body out of sheets of aluminum.

This particular Boat Tail was commissioned by a businessman whose family fortune is rooted in his father's success in the pearling industry. The Boat Tail serves as both an homage to this family heritage and a piece of functional modern art.

The project began with a series of four pearl shells from the client's collection, inspiring the unique color. Rolls-Royce calls it one of the most complex bespoke colors it has created, and it starts with a foundation of oyster and soft rose embellished with large white and bronze mica flakes that add a unique pearlescent effect that changes subtly in different light conditions.

The darker hood and rear deck both contrast with the base paint. The hood is painted a bespoke cognac-shaded blend that incorporates bronze and gold aluminum mica flakes and includes a layer of crystal and iced matt clear coat. The winged rear deck lids, meanwhile, are crafted from Royal Walnut wood veneers with inlaid rose gold pinstripes that create a look similar to yacht decking. These front and rear contrast elements are connected by a matching soft-top.

Each of the two split trunk compartments houses components of an integrated picnic in the park, including flatware colored to match the car and dishes with matching accents. The build also includes an umbrella that mounts on the rear deck to offer shade from the sun.

The interior continues the unique look of the exterior, complete with walnut veneers, cognac and oyster-colored leathers, and rose gold and mother-of-pearl accents throughout. The highlight is the classic timepiece in the center of the dashboard, made from mother-of-pearl sourced from the client's collection, a precious material that also finds use in the analog gauges.
