Gillette Stadium, located in Foxboro about 33 miles south of Downtown Boston, is home to the New England Patriots football team and the New England Revolution soccer team. Show
Gillette Stadium is also where you'll also see top Boston summer concerts featuring Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, and other big stars. Unlike Boston's other two sports arenas, Fenway Park and TD Garden, Gillette Stadium is located outside of the city in a huge sports-oriented entertainment complex/shopping mall called Patriot Place. Restaurants, bars, stores, the Showcase Cinema and Showcase Live performance center, and even a museum and on-site hotels share space at Patriot Place with the stadium. With seating for almost 67,000, over 500 concession sale points, a terrific sound and video system with over 2,000 sound points, 1,500 monitors, two huge HD video boards, Gillette Stadium gives you a superior sports and entertainment experience. However, there is a downside when you're trying to get tickets: all Patriots home games have sold out since the stadium opened in 2002, so once you know which events you want to attend, you need to move fast to get your preferred seats. How early? Well, for an evening game, it's not unusual to see the parking lots full of fans hauling out their cooking gear by 10am -11am. Although you'll see ordinary tailgate fare such as chili, Boston sports fans pride themselves on cooking up regional New England specialties like lobster, big pots of clam chowder, corn on the cob, grilled steaks, and much more. If the mouth-watering aromas inspire you to have your own tailgate party, you'll need to bring your own cooking device. For the most flexibility, consider a camping outdoor oven and stove combo. Portable grills and 2-burner stoves are also good options, especially if you're planning simpler fare - although you may want to combine them with a portable coffee maker. Now, you're all set. Throw some steaks and lobsters into your cooler, and you'll have the fixings for a tailgate feast while you wait for the Patriots or Revolution to kick off. You'll never have to salivate over other fans' feasts again! Gillette Stadium Seating MapsGillette Stadium's official seating capacity is 68,829, which includes 5,876 club seats and 89 luxurious suites. Seat arrangements vary based on the type of event. Booking.com]() Foxborough, MA -- The Gillette Company and The Kraft Group today announced a 15-year agreement that gives Gillette exclusive naming rights to the home stadium and sports complex of the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots of the National Football League and the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. The announcement was made at an afternoon press conference held by James M. Kilts, chairman and CEO, The Gillette Company, and Robert Kraft, chairman, The Kraft Group. Under the agreement, "Gillette Stadium" now replaces "CMGI Field" as the exclusive name of the 68,000-seat, open-air facility. The Company also is receiving an extensive package of sponsorship and promotional rights in and around the venue. "With our deep New England roots and our Company's role as a pioneer in sports marketing, this new partnership with the Kraft organization and their New England Patriots and Revolution franchises is a natural. Millions of sport fans remember Gillette's sponsorship of the World Series and other fabled sports events. The Gillette name on this state-of-the-art sports venue will be a new chapter in that grand tradition," said Mr. Kilts. "Our research shows that our consumers are great sports enthusiasts, so we know that this sponsorship gives our brands an excellent opportunity to connect with our consumers. "We also look upon this partnership as providing the basis for enhancing our community outreach efforts within the entire Greater Boston area. In short, we are thrilled that our consumers, customers, employees and sports fans everywhere will now form a close association between Gillette and the world-class New England Patriots and Revolution franchises," Mr. Kilts added. "This is a very exciting day for me and my family," said Robert Kraft. "As someone who grew up in the 1940s and '50s, the Gillette brand has always been synonymous with championship sporting events and has also been a world class New England institution for over a century. We are very proud of our new stadium. It is a state-of-the-art sports venue that incorporates many regional themes throughout. To now have the combined sports and New England heritage of the Gillette brand on our stadium is the perfect match." Gillette Stadium exterior and in-bowl signage will be in place for the Patriots regular season opening game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 9. The more than 2000 interior signs will be changed during the football season. Financial terms were not disclosed. |
