Ruijerd and Eris tried their best to stop Orsted, but they were easily beaten by him. Rudeus was not able to understand why the Dragon God was trying to kill him. Orsted gave him a warning because Rudeus knew about Man-God, and nearly killed him by piercing his hand into his heart. Eris was crying because she loved Rudeus, and she did not want him to die.

Nanahoshi Shizuka said Orsted to save him from death because she understood the fact that he is also the one who is come from Japan, where she belongs. Nanahoshi thought that he must know something about why they both are the only ones who came here from Japan. After hearing from her, Dragon God Orsted healed all his critical injuries which were given by him. Along with Rudeus, Orsted also healed Eris and Ruijerd. When Rudeus regains consciousness, he asks Eris who saved him. She told him a girl with him (Nanahoshi Shizuka) asked Orsted to save him from death. Summoning the "Godsword", he completely overwhelmed Rudeus by destroying the Magic Armor and slicing off his right arm, but then he faced Eris who managed to put up a fight against him due to her arduous training. Mushoku Tensei Sequel

By the time of Mushoku Tensei's end, Orsted's mission to kill Hitogami is one of the major story threats that remained unresolved. However, Rudeus did see a vision where his and Roxy's daughter, Lara Greyrat, helped Orsted and an unknown individual, presumably Shinohara Akito, enter the void between worlds to finally kill the malicious god. Thus, Ornsted is likely to remain a major character in the planned sequel series.

Orsted (オルステッド, Orusuteddo) is the current Dragon God, a title given to the strongest member of the Dragon Tribe, and the sworn enemy of Hitogami. Initially an antagonist, nearly killing Rudeus twice due to his affiliation with Hitogami, he later becomes a major supporting character, after Hitogami's malicious nature is revealed.

His storyline is one of the major plot threads left unresolved by the end of Mushoku Tensei, making it likely he will once again appear in the planned sequel series.

Appearance

Similar to other Dragon Race people such as Perugius, Orsted has silver hair and golden sanpaku eyes with an overpowering look.

He carries no visible equipment and wears a white coat adorned with fur.

Personality

Due to having curse of being hated and feared by all living things that see his face, Orsted has rather poor social skills and carries a somewhat distant attitude. When it comes to his objective, he is absolutely ruthless and would not hesitate from destroying anything on the way, no matter who or what. He would not hesitate to attack any apostles of Hitogami, usually without actually even taking the time to listen to them and has almost killed Rudeus twice because of this.

However, he has an unexpectedly soft side to him, being patient and kind towards his comrades. Furthermore he has shown himself to be extremely kind towards children, especially Rudeus' children who are immune to his curse and thus don't fear or hate him. He is also very humble, preferring to refer to his followers as comrades rather than subordinates in spite of the vast power and standing differences.

He tends to become more emotional on topics that involve the Dragon Race as he was quite angry at Rudeus when he mentioned the Dragon Race and spoke of Perugius. However, he does not get along with the other Dragon Race and seems to hate the Dragon Kings.

Background

Laplace: "A name"First Dragon God: "Name?"Laplace: "The name of your child?"

First Dragon God: "Orsted. This child's name is Orsted"

Orsted was born roughly 10,000~20,000 years ago in the Dragon World in the city of Kayos from the union between his father, the First Dragon God, and his mother Lunaria, a human woman who is the daughter of the Human God. However, at the time of his birth, his father had still not decided on a name for him yet despite his wife's urgings to give him one. [2] In this era, there were six worlds each home to a different race and ruled by a god: the human world, dragon world, demon world, beast world, ocean world, and sky world. However, at some point, Orsted's mother ended up being killed under mysterious circumstances. The Human God, Hitogami, claimed that the other gods had conspired against the Dragon God, resulting in his wife's death. Enraged, the Dragon God and his loyal generals would wage a war of retribution against the other worlds.[3]

The war which the First Dragon God wrought ended up killing the other gods and destroying their worlds, with only the human world being spared his wrath and prompting the survivors from the other worlds to flee there. However, after destroying the demon world, the dragon god's ward, Orsted's adoptive brother Laplace, revealed that he had learned that the Demon God's wife had also been mysteriously murdered. Realizing that the person he thought had been Human God was, in fact, an imposter who had planned all of this, the furious Dragon God intended to go to war with the human world as well. However, at this point, the battle-weary Dragon Generals could no longer tolerate their liege's constant warmongering and turned on him, resulting in a battle so great it destroyed the city Kayos, left the dragon world unstable, and the First Dragon God getting extremely weakened due to the continuous battles. Seeing this chance Hitogami mortally wounds him destroying his god gem with the destruction of the Dragon world impending.

In the end, the First Dragon God was left mortally wounded whilst the surviving dragons departed for the human world. Before going to the human world to fight Hitogami, the dragon god uses his power to imbue a god gem into his son and then sends him 10000 years into the future with a mission to kill Hitogami, also giving him the power to stay hidden from Hitogami and a sure way to kill him. He also gives Laplace the mission to study Hitogami and develop techniques to pass on to his son when he is born in the future. Before sending his son to the future he finally gives him a name: Orsted and then departs to fight Hitogami. While too weakened to kill the false Human God, the Dragon God managed to defeat him and seal him in the void between worlds although dying himself in the process.[4]

  • Rudeus: "From my view point, you seem to hold a great grudge towards Hitogami, what is the reason?"
Orsted: "Is there someone who does not hold a grudge against that piece of trash?"
    Rudeus: "...That's true."
  • Orsted: "There are many who call themselves the Dragon King. They live as they please with that tinny pride of theirs and die because of a foolish enemy. But you are different. Therefore, don't call yourself that, Rudeus Greyrat."
