Who wrote reckless love

“There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me”

These lines are part of the wonderful song composed by Cory Asbury titled “Reckless Love”.  The song became so popular that even Hollywood artists, little kids and soldiers were singing it.  Sometimes people get confused when they read the title of the song, but the moment you hear it and know the story behind it, you realize how intimate the love of God is.

Many people are asking, why is it called “Reckless Love”? The word “Reckless” does not refer to God Himself, the God we are serving is not reckless.  However, it refers to the way God loves us.  If you try to consider what He did on the cross, He is utterly not concerned with the consequences of His actions in regards to His safety, comfort and well being.

Who wrote reckless love

He is so in love with you and me, that He came to earth to show how much He is willing to sacrifice just to have you back in His arms.  His love isn’t selfish and He is never been self-serving.  He would offer His life to give us the freedom that we don’t deserve.  His love leaves the ninety-nine just to find the one who went astray.

Cory himself experienced the same kind of love,“His love saw me, broken down kid, with regret as deep as the ocean.  My innocence in youth poured out like water, and He found me, and He put me on His soldiers.  And He carried me on.  Because He is just that good, He is just that kind, He is a Father that never gives up.”  Cory Said.

Well, friends, this is the love story written to us in the form of the Bible which then became a worship song Reckless Love and now it is a much-anticipated movie thanks to DeVon Franklin. The film is based on the story behind Cory Asbury's song about the reckless love of God.

Moviegoers and fans alike of Cory Asbury cannot wait for this film to hit the box office. Wondering about the “Reckless Love” movie plot? The movie is based on a true love story about a young man who finds God in the midst of his struggles.

The Story Behind Reckless Love

In addition to being about his wife, Cory said the story behind Reckless Love is based on the life-long struggle of his relationship with his dad and ultimately with God.

Our Heavenly Father is loving and perfect. Sadly, though, issues with our earthly fathers can often complicate our understanding of our Heavenly Father.

“I know so many people, myself included, who grew up with a dad who wasn't perfect, to put it lightly,” Cory explained. “And because my dad wasn't perfect, I viewed God through the lens of my own dad. And I felt many times that God was angry or upset or disappointed in me. I felt I was always letting Him down.”

The unconditional, reckless love of God is hard for us to comprehend. Because even the greatest love on earth pales in comparison.

It wasn’t until Cory Asbury had his own son that he began to realize just how deep and limitless our Father’s love for us is.

“He adores us the way that I adore this little boy,” Cory said.

After the song Reckless Love became a blockbuster hit, Cory turned down a lot of opportunities that came with the song. This included his initial thoughts when DeVon Franklin, the producer of movies such as, ‘I Can Only Imagine,' ‘Miracles From Heaven,' and ‘Breakthrough' called him about making the song a film.

“When DeVon called me in the summer of 2018 to discuss the possibility of making a Reckless Love movie, I had every intention of telling him, ‘Thanks, but no thanks,'” Cory wrote. “If you know me, you know how highly I value authenticity & realness, so taking advantage of the success of a song God had freely given me felt a bit exploitative.”

From Worship Song To Faith-Based Movie

But then DeVon asked him a question that struck a chord in Cory's heart.

"Cory, what if this film is bigger than you & your story? What if it brings healing to your dad & dads all across the world?" Cory then said, "I flew to North Carolina the next day to ask my dad's permission, & we wept together. It was the first step toward healing our relationship. Needless to say, I was listening to what God might want to do through the whole thing."

The movie’s release date has not yet been disclosed. But the story behind Reckless Love will certainly be a project to watch and wait eagerly for its release date. This film will no doubt bring inspiration, healing, and a deeper depth of understanding of God's reckless pursuit for each of us.

"What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one wanders away from the rest, won't he leave the ninety-nine on the hill-side and set out to look for the one who has wandered away? Yes, and if he should chance to find it I assure you he is more delighted over that one than he is over the ninety-nine who never wandered away. You can understand then that it is never the will of your Father in Heaven that a single one of these little ones should be lost." Matthew 18:12

Bethel Music’s Cory Asbury hit it big with his song about the “the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.”

“Reckless Love” reached No. 1 for Christian airplay last week, with more than 10 million listeners, according to Nielsen Music.

It’s also back at the top of Billboard’s hot Christian songs chart, thanks to a boost from none other than Justin Bieber, who recently posted a clip of himself singing the chorus on Instagram before performing the song as part of an impromptu worship set during the Coachella music festival in California. Earlier this year, Israel Houghton offered his gospel cover.

But when worship songs make it big, they also get subjected to a degree of theological scrutiny, and some have questioned whether the message of the hit song misrepresents the nature of God’s love.

“A lot of people have asked why I use the word ‘reckless’ to describe the love of God,” Asbury said in a Bethel Music promo. “I see the love of God as something wild, insane, crazy. The way that he pursues, chases us down, loves, I believe, is reckless. We were going after that really furious, violent language to speak of the nature of the love of God.”

Back in the ’90s, Rich Mullins sang about the “the reckless raging fury that they call the love of God.” Similarly, in the worship song “Furious,” Jeremy Riddle, also of Bethel Music, describes God’s love as “furious,” “fierce,” and “wild.”

About a decade ago, Christians were debating John Mark McMillan’s “How He Loves” over the line “heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss.” More recently, concerns ...
