What are the duties and responsibilities of a Behavioral Technician?

A Registered Behavior Technician, or RBT, is responsible for assisting behavioral analysis teams in evaluating mental health patients and their conditions over a certain timeframe. Their duties include adhering to behavioral health plans developed by other mental health professionals to provide patients with beneficial care, interviewing patients at their home or healthcare facility and drafting reports to relay their progress to senior mental health professionals.

A Registered Behavior Technician is responsible for the day-to-day execution of a behavioral health plan. This can include things like interviewing patients, conducting follow-ups and collecting data. They must also interact directly with patients or clients, who may be experiencing things like a substance abuse disorder or psychiatric disorder, and for meeting with patients’ or clients’ family members. Other important duties for Registered Behavior Technicians include:

  • Administering medications
  • Participating in counseling sessions and meetings

Offer $20/hr to start as RBT1 w/ advancement opportunities to Level up (4 Levels) for an additional $1/hr per Level. ($20-$24/hr) PLUS Additional $1/hr raises every 3 months!     Under the direction of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to children with autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, clinic, community, and school settings.

    Duties and Responsibilities


  • Work 1:1 with patients in the home, school, clinic, and community settings
  • Consistently implement treatment plans with fidelity (under BCBAs direction) and prepare program materials; treatment protocols that include a wide variety of domains such as toilet training, communication, social, and adaptive living skills
  • Collect and maintain accurate data and clinical notes utilizing data collection software
  • Review and implement consultation/supervision note recommendations
  • Participate in ongoing training, evaluations, and meetings, as required
  • Assist with parent training and clinical assessments, as needed
  • Communicate effectively with the BCBA regarding learner's progress
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively with colleagues and families, as needed
  • Track supervision hours and annually renew the RBT certification as mandated by the regulatory body to maintain the certification
  • Work ethically and with integrity while following the BACB Ethical Code
  • Understand and adhere to HIPAA policies
  • Adhere to time and attendance policies and maintain a record, in good standing, of regular and reliable attendance and punctuality, to provide quality and consistent patient care

  • Must have current/active RBT certification
  • High School Diploma (relevant college degree and coursework is preferred)
