The next instalment of the high-octane shoot 'em up thriller series John Wick will be the longest film in the franchise to date.

Director Chad Stahelski sat down with Collider and dropped a few hints about the next Wick adventure.

Stahelski, who has sat in the director's chair for every flick, wouldn't reveal the film's actual run time.

Instead, he dropped a major hint.

"It's longer than the other three, but not that long," he said, as per Collider.

So if the original John Wick film came in at 101 minutes, John Wick: Chapter 2 was 122 minutes in length, and John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum was 131 minutes long, our powers of deduction would indicate that the fourth film has to be at least two hours and twelve minutes of action and mayhem.

Stahelski also revealed that they are 'dangerously close' to finishing post-production for the film.

“We're on the final stretch for picture lock, and then we have our VFX music. But this is the furthest along I've ever been, this much in post," he told Collider.

"VFX are going to be coming in throughout the rest of the year. But we're dangerously close."

He added: "The movie is essentially done. There's probably another few weeks of tweaking overall, then we lock [the] picture, and we're about music sound and the effects."

The update is welcome news as we've been chomping at the bit for an update since the dropped in July.

In the new trailer, Wick looks ready to kick some serious a**.

and, if the trailer is anything to go by, he's preparing for another round of rampaging.

The clip for John Wick 4 promises plenty of gunplay, sword fights and car chases.

The actor is back for another movie and he's previously teased fans with how good John Wick 4 is going to be.

Praising the script for the fourth movie as 'really cool', cranked up the hype for fans of the action movies.

He said: "I read the script. It's really, really cool. As much as it's the same world as the other three films, it's just deeper."

Another round of baddies are going to bite the bullet at John Wick's hands in the saga known for its brilliantly crafted stunts, which Reeves loves to perform himself.

Wick promises he's 'going to kill them all', which is generally the plot of pretty much every John Wick movie at this point.

John Wick 4 is due to release in cinemas on 24 March, 2023.

“John Wick” fans better get ready for the longest “John Wick” movie yet, as filmmaker Chad Stahelski confirmed to Collider that the upcoming “John Wick: Chapter 4″ will be the franchise’s longest-running installment. Stahelski is only a few weeks away from locking the final cut of the movie.

While a specific “John Wick 4” runtime has not been revealed, the movie will run longer than two hours and 11 minutes since it’s the franchise’s most lengthy entry yet. The original “John Wick” ran 101 minutes, while “John Wick: Chapter 2” clocked in at 122 minutes. “John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum” ran even longer at 131 minutes.

The “John Wick” runtimes have all gotten longer with each movie, just as each chapter in the franchise has outgrossed its predecessor at the box office. The original “John Wick” earned $86 million worldwide in 2014 followed by $171.5 million for “John Wick: Chapter 2” in 2017 and $327.3 million for “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” in 2019.

“John Wick: Chapter 4” finds Keanu Reeves back in the title role. Plot details remain under wraps, but an action-packed teaser that debuted at Comic-Con found the title character brutalizing two opponents with nunchucks. The supporting cast includes Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins and Clancy Brown. Franchise mainstay Ian McShane is back as Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel.

The coolest action film you'll see all year

At first glance, John Wick sounds like a terrible film on paper but with the slickness of Keanu Reeves' performance as the titular character and the sheer brilliance in its action sequences, this marks the best action film of the year and one of the absolute best in the past decade. Following a brutal home invasion that leaves his beloved dog murdered by thugs from his past, John Wick vows revenge on the ones who have taken what he loves most. Like I said, on paper, this seems like a direct-to-DVD slopfest starring John Cena but as a film with Keanu Reeves as the lead, it marks the very welcomed return for Reeves to the genre. John Wick is insanely fun, violently brutal and an overall romp especially for those disappointed by The Expendables 3. John Wick is propelled by Tarantino-esque dialog mixed with the swagger of action stars from the 70s. Reeves literally emulates cool in this film and does it with such confidence, that we don't even doubt the character...even when he kills countless bad guys with extreme force in some utterly ridiculous and implausible situations. We don't doubt it for a minute. This is EXACTLY what you want out of an action film. It is briskly paced, brilliantly shot and meticulously choreographed and keeps you wanting more and more. The supporting cast filled with the likes of John Legiuzamo, Ian McShane, and Willen Dafoe also keeps this film very interesting. These guys don't play good guys, hell, John Wick by traditional standards would be a bad guy in any other film. Every character is more ruthless than the next and pushes John Wick to be more ruthless than they are, creating a very cool dynamic between the character and the plot regarding the idea of how far is too far? However, don't expect some revelation from John Wick regarding the morality of bad and evil. This film wants you entertained and does so with brute force, it never lets up, not even for a second. One scene in particular that will have your blood pumping is a showdown between thugs and Wick in a nightclub. This action sequence remains the best in the film and will have you grasping your theater seat because of the sheer intensity of it. Overall, John Wick is slick, violent fun that turns into a remarkable, surprising film that will catch you off guard. It is THAT good. I highly recommend this film to action buffs especially but I'm sure those who just like a good movie will love it as well.
