Who won love island 2022 usa

Love Island is over for another year, and the final did not disappoint!

Laura Whitmore kicked off Monday night’s finale by serving up a brand new prize money twist right out of the gate before the islanders’ declarations of love left fans in tears.

The first results of the night revealed that Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page had finished in fourth place, before Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope were placed third.

But who was crowned the eventual winner?

Who won Love Island 2022?

The winners of Love Island 2022 have officially been crowned – with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti winning the series ahead of Luca Bish and Gemma Owen and taking home the £50,000 prize!

Fans were distraught to discover that for the first time ever, the £50,000 prize wasn’t going to be up for a steal for the couple who were named the victors.

While some finalists look like their relationships could go on beyond the villa, others have seen their relationships tested in the final week.

Here’s how the final went down, as Metro.co.uk covered the live final every step of the way.

Was there a trailer for Love Island 2022?

In early May 2022, we were treated to two short promos for the upcoming season of Love Island, and we've since seen a full-length version that aired on ITV before Britain's Got Talent on Saturday, May 14.

Featuring the iconic voice of Iain Sterling, the teaser sees ITV proclaiming "love is ours" and pokes fun at some of the many dating shows that have cropped up over the years.

Before the show returned to our screens, ITV also released the first look video that was also played at the start of the first episode to introduce this year's islanders.

From a paramedic to a real estate agent, the video offers a glimpse into the singletons' jobs, before leaving their everyday lives behind for the ultimate summer of love. Check it out below:

Dami Hope said: "This year I was kind of being more open to new things and I think actually that's why I put myself out there to get some new experiences. Love Island is a different experience; I will be talking to different girls, it might not go well with some, might go well with others, so it's a fun experience."

Indiyah Polack

Indiyah Polack was the third contestant announced for the new series. As for why she wanted to take part, she said: "I feel like I’m at a stage in my life now where I’m ready to meet new people and start dating properly.

"I have been single for some time and I feel like, for my generation of people, it’s quite hard to date without being influenced by social media and stuff like that. Love Island particularly is like a closed space and I think it is a great place to get to know someone one-on-one and build a real connection."

Tasha Ghouri

Tasha Ghouri was our fifth islander for the series. She said: "My dating life has been a shambles. This is an opportunity for me to find 'the one' and have a great summer at the same time. I'm definitely ready for a relationship. I'm 23 now, so I'm ready to get to know someone, go on holidays, and travel with them."

Davide Sanclimenti

Davide Sanclimenti was our sixth islander. He's originally from Rome. He said: "I think Love Island is going to be so much fun. I’m going to be the Italian stallion in the Villa! With my Italian charm, I can also be a very romantic guy.

"I’m good-looking and I’ve realised since I first arrived in Manchester, a lot of English girls actually love me. They love to be around me and I love to be around them. It’s going to be fun, I’m looking forward to it. I want to find my soulmate, find my person so I can actually build something in the future, grow with them, be a family."

Gemma Owen

Gemma Owen was one of the biggest names. She's the daughter of footballing legend Michael Owen (who appeared in the latest series of The Masked Singer UK). She said: "I am open to finding love, I’m wanting to have a really fun summer. I was seeing someone and then that didn’t work out so I thought, 'Why not?'"

Andrew Le Page

Andrew Le Page was the ninth contestant heading into the villa this year. Talking about why he signed up for the show, he said: "Because I'm actually single for once, so I thought, why not? This is the best time to give it a go."

Luca Bish

Luca Bish completed the initial Love Island lineup as the eleventh contestant. He said: "When you actually look back at Love Island, you can see how many couples it’s genuinely made. I don’t know how many kids Love Island has made but there are a few aren’t there?"

If you want to refresh your memory of what the original islanders' plans were going into the villa, you can check out the 'Meet The Islanders' video here:

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu said: "I'm hoping for that real genuine spark and they just see me as me. I think the concept of the show brings back true and raw feelings."

Love Island 2022 Casa Amor bombshells

Casa Amor brought 12 new singletons into Love Island, though not all of them stuck around.

Sam, George, Jack, Mollie, Cheyanne and Jazmine were all left single during the stick or twist recoupling, so they were sent packing, leaving the other bombshells as full-fledged members of the villa.

You can see the full lineup from Casa Amor below:

With only a few days left until the final, four new bombshells were thrown into the mix to cause a stir for the Islanders, who seem to be doing well in their couples.

Lacey, Nathalia, Reece and Jamie made their explosive entrance to the villa and made their intentions known from the get-go, but Jamie was the only one who managed to bag himself a spot in the villa; the rest have already flown back home!

Who has left the villa?

Over the course of series 8, we said goodbye to 28 islanders before the Love Island final.

Liam Llewellyn made the decision to walk away from the show in the first week. He told the other islanders on Friday, June 10 that he hadn't "been himself" since he first arrived, adding: "I don’t really think I’ve been giving 100 percent Liam; I’m miles off that. Trying to find someone you leave the villa with that you care about – obviously, that’s the goal, isn't it? But when you‘re not feeling that, it makes it a hard sort of time to find that."

On Monday, June 13, Afia Tonkmor became the second islander to head home after Jacques O'Neill was tasked with choosing between the two remaining single girls in the villa. He opted to couple with Paige, meaning Afia was heading home. The third islander to leave Remi Lambert. He entered alongside Jay Younger on June 14 but was dumped during the recoupling just five days later.

On June 21, both Amber Beckford and Ikenna Ekwonna found out they would be heading home. The public had been asked to vote for their favorite islanders, and it was revealed that Amber and Ikenna had received the fewest votes and were therefore leaving the show.

On July 1, Charlie Radnedge and Antigoni Buxton were chosen to leave the island by their fellow Islanders after the public were asked to vote for who they thought was the most compatible couple. Tasha and Andrew, Jay and Danica, and Antigoni and Charlie received the least amount of votes and their fate was left in the hands of the Islanders to make the decision on who should leave the villa.

The boys chose Antigoni to leave and the girls went with Charlie, which meant that they both had to go home.

On July 7, Sam, Jack, George, Cheyanne, Jazmine and Mollie were all sent home, as they weren't chosen during the Casa Amor recoupling.

On July 11, Jay Younger and Chyna Ellis became the latest pair to wave goodbye to the villa. After another public vote for the favorite couple, the other islanders were left to choose between Jay and Chyna and Dami and Summer. They opted to save the latter couple as Dami had rekindled his relationship with Indiyah.

July 12 saw Jacques O'Neill following in Liam's footsteps to become the second contestant to leave the show of their own accord. He gave an emotional speech to the whole villa explaining that he was finding life in the villa more difficult as of late, before packing up his things and heading home.

The latest duo left the villa on July 15. Another public vote had been called, and the two islanders who received the fewest votes (and were therefore going home) were Coco Lodge and Josh Le Grove.

On July 21, Casa Amor bombshells Billy Brown and Summer Botwe were sent home by their fellow Islanders after they were left with the lowest amount of votes from the public. This meant that Dami and Danica were saved out of the bottom four.

July 24 saw four more islanders' journeys come to an end. After another public vote, Deji Adeniyi and Lacey Edwards and Reece Ford and Nathalia Campos were voted the least compatible couples and sent home that same evening.

On July 27, Danica Taylor and Jamie Allen were dumped after the results of the most recent public vote were announced.

On July 31, Paige and Adam became the final two islanders to leave the villa behind before the series finale.

Who hosted Love Island 2022?

Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore returned to guide the islanders through the competition once again.

Talking about hosting the show and Love Island: Aftersun once more, Laura said: "It's so exciting to be back. I feel like summer is here! I think we all need a little bit of Love Island in our life again."

It's also safe to say that Love Island also wouldn't be the same without Laura's husband Iain Sterling providing the show's iconic voiceovers, so we were glad he was back on board, too.
