Dental implants are becoming more popular today for a number of reasons. Implants are utilized to offer patients a foundation for new restorative teeth where natural teeth are missing or have been extracted. The implant offers the patient the opportunity to regain normal function of the tooth without being forced to resort to a bridge or a denture. If an implant can be placed, it is always the treatment of choice for missing teeth.

Though dental implants cost more than other dental restorations including dental bridges, partial dentures, and traditional full dentures, they are a wonderful investment for many of our patients.

Aside from maintaining bone density in the jaw and keeping the jawbone from shrinking, dental implants have other benefits that patients can consider as well. These restorations are natural-looking and fully functioning, acting just as previous natural teeth did at one time.

This stable, strong, and durable restoration is often touted as the “gold standard” in tooth replacement.

The implant will osseointegrate (fuse) with the existing bone.

The new implant will support your teeth firmly and safely.

Your new implants are aesthetically pleasing.

You will no longer have pain during talking or eating.

The dental implant will prevent progressive bone loss.

Implants have a proven scientific basis.

A great option to replace all of your teeth is an implant retained denture. Some may call this a “Snap-In Denture”.

False teeth are false teeth, right? Not exactly. There are a few options available for replacing teeth, and dentures retained with dental implants are becoming the standard of care — and for good reason.

Photo above shows a model of false teeth (denture) and 4 dental implants to retain and support the denture.

Regular dentures can rub against the gums, and they have nothing to hold them in place — especially in the lower jaw. Because there are no teeth or implants to stimulate it, the bone shrinks, and chewing can become close to impossible.

But implant-supported dentures draw strength from the bone. They aren’t meant to rest on the gums; but instead the bone anchors them in place. This gives them added strength and prevents them from slipping. In addition, dental implants also stimulate the bone, and as a result, the bone is far less likely to resorb or shrink or create any sore spots.

Mini implants are placed in the jaw and anchored firmly in the surrounding bone. Then attachments are placed in the underside of the denture that connect to the implants. The denture is then snapped onto the implants, keeping it stable and secure.

More confidence. You’ll never have to worry about your false teeth slipping out when you talk, laugh, and eat in public.

Implant-supported dentures are more comfortable because they are secure and feel like natural teeth.

Less gum tissue irritation.

A more natural look than conventional dentures.

An improved long-term appearance because implant-supported dentures prevent jaw shrinkage and bone loss.

No need to use denture adhesives.

A minimally invasive solution with a fixed full-arch restoration for high patient satisfaction.

A relatively new treatment called the All-on-X Dental Implant Procedure uses four or more implants on the top and four or more on the bottom, to which a fixed full-arch restoration are connected.

The All-on-X (Four or Six) treatment concept is a cost-efficient, graftless solution that can provide patients with a fixed full-arch prosthesis on the day of surgery.

Full-arch rehabilitation with only four implants
Two straight anterior implants and two implants tilted up to 45º in the posterior

Immediate Function (fixed provisional bridge)
For patients meeting criteria for immediate loading of implants

Graftless procedure
Bone grafting is avoided by tilting the posterior implants, utilizing available bone

Patients with edentulism (toothlessness) are often eligible for the All-on-X (Four or Six) treatment concept. A thorough evaluation of any patient is necessary in order to choose the right treatment and to establish a predictable treatment outcome.

For the patient who has deteriorating teeth and needs dentures, this is as close as you can get to your natural teeth. The fixed full-arch restorations are FIXED in place, meaning you can’t take them in and out.

For the patient who already has dentures, it’s like having your teeth back again. Also, the plastic is removed from the roof of your mouth. Now, you can eat your favorite foods, like steak or corn on the cob, and actually taste it!

Here’s the beauty of this technique. The back 2 implants are angulated to maximize your existing bone and almost eliminate bone grafts and the months of healing time. You can actually have the implants placed (under sedation) and have your teeth attached to the implants all in the same day. If you are one whose teeth are hopeless, the majority of the time, we can remove the teeth, place the implants, and attach the fixed full-arch restoration all in the same day! You come in with the smile you dislike so much, and you leave with a total smile transformation!

The All-on-X Implant Procedure is a revolutionary advancement in the treatment of missing teeth. It lets you regain your oral health and function – and gives you a new beautiful smile that you’ve always dreamed about!

The technology of dental implants has greatly improved in recent years. The latest advancements are in the area of implant placement, and Greystone Smile Design is proud to offer this cutting-edge treatment. Below is a description of Greystone Smile Design’s implant placement protocol using a surgical guide from a three dimensional xray.

Planning Phase: A Cone Beam 3D CT Scan is taken along with an impression – super easy – takes about 20 minutes.

Using our implant placement planning software, an implant is virtually placed in the desired location. This means that we can virtually place the implant on a computer using the exact dimensions of the implant, placed in the exact location, at the exact angle, and at the exact depth. This is as exact as it can get. This information is then sent to our lab where they print a 3D surgical guide based off of our virtual rendering.

Surgical Phase: The 3D surgical guide is used to duplicate the exact virtual placement. It’s not just a guide to assist with the placement; it’s a guide to duplicate the virtual placement. The 3D surgical guide is made to correlate with our implant placement kit. The guide makes sure each drill sequence is angle controlled and depth controlled. The result is absolute perfect placement of the dental implant.

And – it’s super easy – takes about 30 minutes.
