Dr. ridel discusses how the five-step model can be used to overcome personal problems including:

Five-Step Model for Problem SolvingThe key to solving personal problems is to understand and implement a structuredprocess (Ridel, 2015). In this chapter, Dr. Ridel provided us with a problem solving processbroken down into five steps: (1) Identify the problem, (2) discover the causes of the problem,(3) brainstorm options to solve the problem, (4) evaluate each option and choose the best one,and (5) act, monitor and modify your solution (Ridel, 2015).This lesson from week four really stood out to me, and I found it to be most meaningfuland useful. Generally speaking, I do wellwhen things are organized and a process is followed- if there is a process out there, I will findit! Problem solving is no different, and I am especially glad to have learned of this Five-Stepmodel during this course to utilize when problems arise in the future.ConclusionThis course, Critical Thinking in Everyday Life, has provided me with many tools thatwill help me to keep improving my critical thinking skills, both inside and outside of the
