Haven't played for a year now. When I used to play, installing mods were as simple as dragging the archive into the Minecraft folder in your application data. Now, it seems like most self-install through one-click JARs or they use things like Forge. I've noticed it creates new profiles on Minecraft startup. For example, OptiFine creates a profile with a modified JAR of Minecraft. That being said, is it possible to use multiple mods at once anymore?

You can just drag the mod folders and place them into the mods folder and it SHOULD work. I don't play mods that often so I might be wrong :3

Yes, OptiFine creates a .jar file, which you can just drag into the "mods" folder. Same with most other mods, as long as they use the Minecraft Forge API, and API which is slowly dying right now.

I have a semi-decent tutorial posted for installing mods but for chaining things, like Forge and Liteloader, it'd be best to follow the directions the mod author posts.

What I'm noticing is that many mods, during the automated installation process, make their own .jar files. You're saying I can take the OptiFine .jar file and put it in that folder, and then how can I make it so other mods "add on" to this .jar file?
