How long does it take to drive 12 miles at 40 mph

(12 mi)/(30 mi/hr) = 12/30 hr = 24 minutes 60 mph is 1 mile per minute, or 1 minute per mile.
30 mph is half as fast, so takes twice as long, 2 minutes per mile.

How long does it take to drive 12 miles at 40 mph
Use this page to find out how long it will take to drive 12 miles (mi). Before we continue, note that the time it takes to drive 12 miles depends on how many miles per hour (mph) you are driving. Therefore, please enter how fast (mph) you will be driving and then press "Time" to see how long it will take you to drive 12 miles.
The answer will show you how many total hours and minutes it will take you to drive 12 miles based on your speed. The answer will not show seconds, and the minutes are rounded if necessary. The formulas to calculate the total hours and minutes it takes to drive 12 miles is as follows: Floor(12 ÷ mph) = Hours ((12 ÷ mph) - Hours) × 60 = Minutes

About Speed Distance Time Calculator

This online calculator tool can be a great help for calculating time basing on such physical concepts as speed and distance. Therefore, in order to calculate the time, both distance and speed parameters must be entered. For the speed, you need to enter its value and select speed unit by using the scroll down menu in the calculator. For distance, you should enter its value and also select the proper length measurement unit from the scroll down menu. You'll receive the result in standard time format (HH:MM:SS).

Time Speed Distance Formula

Distance is equal to speed × time. Time is equal Distance/Speed.

Distance = Speed × Time Speed = Distance / Time Time = Distance / Speed

Calculate Time from Distance and Speed Examples

Example 1: ---------------------------------- Speed: 50 mile per hour (km/h) Distance: 70 miles Time = Distance / Speed Time = 70 km / (50 km/h) Time = 1.4 h 1 hour = 60 minutes 0.4 h = 0.4 × 60 0.4 h = 24 minutes Time = 1 hour 24 minutes Time = 01:24:00 (HH:MM:SS) Example 2: ---------------------------------- Speed: 40 kilometer per hour (km/h) Distance: 60 miles Time = Distance / Speed Time = 60 miles / (40 km/h) 1 mile = 1.609344 km Time = 60 × 1.609344 km / (40 km/h) Time = 96.56064 km (40 km/h) Time = 2.414016 h Hours = 2 h 1 hour = 60 minutes 0.414016 h = 0.414016 × 60 0.414016 h = 24.84096 minutes Minutes = 24 min 1 minute = 60 second 0.84096 min = 0.84096 × 60 sec 0.84096 min = 50 sec (approximately) Seconds = 50 sec Time = 2 hours 24 minutes 50 seconds Time = 02:24:50 (HH:MM:SS)

This was the best tool ive ever used that was on point from speed to distance and time Calculator

Martin 2022-06-03 13:44:22

This was somewhat unhelpful as I know the time and distance, but not the speed. Would be helpful if this calculator also could solve the other two as well.

If a total distance of 2 miles is driven, with the first mile being driven at a speed of 15mph, and the second mile driven at a speed of 45 mph: What is the average speed of the full 2 mile trip?

Guys how much time will a cyclist take to cover 132 METRES
With a speed of 8 km/ph

Aku 2021-11-27 23:22:17

Depends on how fast that actually is. For every 10 mph above 60, but below 120, you save 5 seconds a mile. But between the 30-60 area, every ten saves 10 seconds a mile (if I am remembering correctly), and every 10 between 15-30 is 20 seconds. Realistically, it isn't likely isn't worth it, unless it is a relatively straight drive with no stops, in which case you will likely go up a gear for the drive and thus improve gas efficiency for the trip. Only really saves time if it is over long trips 300+ miles (in which case, assuming you were on the interstate) that 5 seconds a mile would save you 25 minutes from the drive, making it go from 4h35m to 4h10m. For me, I have family across the U.S., so family visits are usually 900-1400 miles. Even only driving 5 above usually saves me 90-150 minutes or so (since I often have stretches where I drive on US highways which have 55 mph speed limits)

Mike 2021-11-23 17:39:42

I would like to know if driving fast is worth it for short trips. If I drive 10 MPH over the speed limit for 10 miles, how much time do i save ?

Is there an equation for that ?

hello guys can you help me with this question
A falcon travelled at 167 mph. How long would it take for it to travel 34.5 miles?

Harshita Raj 2021-10-11 07:55:20

Hey @Ally, The answer will be 15km/hr First, after you are done writing the fact down, you'll realise that there's 24 min or 24/60= 0.4 hr left (6km*10km/h cuz t= d/v) to cover 6 km ... And d=6 t= 0.4 velocity, v (same as speed)=? so v=d/t v=6km/0.4 (multiply it by 10/10 to remove decimal) = 60/4= 15 Speed required to cover rest of the 6km in the left 24min= 15km/hr This took me some time to understand but when I was done, I realised it was pretty easy. The only two formulas that were used were: time=distance/speed velocity/speed= total distance/total time taken Hope it helps :)
